INTERIOR DESIGN, ROOTED IN
REVERENCE FOR PLACE

ABOUT DOGWOOD PROPER
At Dogwood Proper, our work begins with a reverence for place. Designing in Nashville and Houston areas, we design homes that feel as though they have always belonged, layered with intention, shaped by craftsmanship, and guided by a quiet understanding of how people truly live. For clients who value substance over trend, our interiors are well appointed, deeply personal, and made to stand the test of time.

MEET THE TEAM
OWNER, HEAD OF DESIGN
JESSICA BANDSTRA
Rooted in the traditions of the South, Jessica has long been drawn to the beauty and function of a home where family comes first and every corner holds the potential for lasting memories.
Born in Texas and now based in Nashville, Jessica Bandstra finds inspiration in the city’s rich culture and enduring Southern traditions. The grace and grit of her grandmother, Peggy Jean, remain her north star, guiding her to create homes that are well lived and well loved.
In her latest project, Jessica reimagined a Tennessee ranch-style home in West Meade through a full renovation and custom build, bringing her passion for architecture, heirlooms, and Southern hospitality to life.

ASSOCIATE DESIGNER
ELLA SHATZER
Raised in Jupiter, Florida, Ella’s love for design began early, shaped by late nights watching HGTV with her mother and touring homes on the market. Those moments sparked not only a shared passion, but a lasting appreciation for how thoughtful design can transform a house into a home.
After earning her degree in Interior Architecture and Design from Florida State University, Ella moved to Nashville to begin her career with Dogwood Proper. With strong technical skills in CAD, Revit, Photoshop, and Enscape, she brings both creativity and precision to each project.
Her appreciation for well-crafted, luxury furnishings ensures every selection is both beautiful and enduring. Ella approaches design as a deeply personal process, creating homes that reflect comfort, intention, and lasting quality.
