The Full-Service Process

We start by getting to know all about your project, lifestyle and goals. After an initial discovery call, we will meet and start to form some initial ideas about your design. Following a detailed consultation, if we agree that our services are a good fit for your project, we will prepare a proposal and align on a budget and timeline. 

In phase two, Dogwood Proper collaborates with an architect to develop preliminary concepts and space planning, setting the project's direction. Our designers act as your advocate, refining architectural plans and conducting initial budget evaluations once the space planning presentation has been approved. Value engineering helps clients adjust their budgets, focusing on key areas for the best outcome. Schematic design continues throughout the project, including custom millwork and furniture, and allows for ongoing budget adjustments.

In the third phase of Dogwood Proper's design process, we make all materials and furnishing selections based on our agreed upon budgets, timelines, and schematic designs. From rendering to mood boards to elevations and floor plans, your project starts to visually come to life. You may receive 3D renderings or additional design concepts to help you visualize the result.

During this phase of your design journey, the Dogwood Proper team is handling the procurement of all chosen fixtures and furnishings, as well as placing orders from vendors, workrooms, and coordinating the custom creation of your items from artisans if applicable. All approved items are now cross-referenced with budgets, CAD drawings, floor plans, elevations and will be scheduled for delivery.

Construction Administration is the phase where we make sure everything goes according to the design plans. This includes site visits, phone calls, emails, and managing the project. Dogwood Proper reminds us that designers are involved throughout the whole process, but this phase is especially hands-on to ensure everything is built as planned.

For most of Dogwood Proper's projects, the home is empty before the installation. During this time, a project manager is on-site almost every day, coordinating deliveries and overseeing final construction details. The Installation Phase for full-service interior design projects usually takes three to four weeks. Full-service clients get a top-notch installation, with every detail handled, like setting up the kitchen and organizing the bathrooms. We schedule photography for the day before the client reveal, making sure everything is perfectly styled, from candles to flowers.
